Kuzey and Sami… They both are two close friends who are carrying all the pain of the world on their shoulders. According to them; neither the world is a place to live anymore nor is it possible to leave the past behind. There is no future… Kuzey waits for death. Sami waits for him.
In 1998; the beautiful and young lady Safak comes to Old Foca for doing some research about Greek villages. From the beginning of that arrival; Kuzey starts to seem different. Yet again, he does not surrender himself to Safak. While Safak falls deeply in love with Kuzey, he just loves her. Safak breaks up with him for 5 times in 22 days. Each time when Safak leaves him; she cannot resist to her own feelings and turns back to Kuzey… She disappears upon her last leave by her car. Everybody in Old Foca is looking for her. Yet, no traces are left behind from her… Safak disappears.
Kuzey starts to look for Safak with his fisherman friend Yunus. They cannot find her for five years. Kuzey’s search has always been continued though…
In 2003 Kuzey’s rich brother, who has never approved Kuzey’s life style and character, sends Cigdem to the hotel for paying Kuzey’s debts. He pays all the debts so Kuzey can keep the hotel.
Cigdem also will have some feelings for Kuzey. But this affection will only remind Safak of Kuzey over and over again.
When the fisherman Yunus tells Kuzey that he has found the remaining of Safak’s car under the sea, Kuzey leaves the hotel. He goes to the same place to meet Safak; under the sea…
